lckt13 Posted November 21, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted November 21, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Happy Thanksgiving ! Â i have been shooting 360 virtual tours for the past 5 years using a Nikon DSLR and the 18-55 and Tokina 14-24 lenses on a rotator set at the widest angle with much success when stitching in Panovista program. Â Now that i have spent my daughters inheritance on the Digilux 3 with the standard 14-24 lens i find the results less than satisfactory. here are my dilemas and questions: Â 1. should i change the ratio in the live view to the 16:9 to give me a wider image or does that matter when shooing the image? i don't understand that ratio. Â 2. OR should i purchase the Olympus 11-24 ultra wide angle in order to translate to approx 17mm for a 35mm camera? Â thanks! Hank:cool:
Advertisement Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Hi lckt13, Take a look here 360 degree virtual tours with Digilux 3 and 14-50 lens. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
philipotto Posted November 22, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted November 22, 2007 Hank, Â If you could elaborate on what you find lacking in the Digilux files compared to the Nikon, the Digilux 3 and L1 owners could better address the problem. If you could include examples of each, all the better. Â To answer your above querries: Â 1. The aspect ration of the sensor of the Digilux 3 is 4:3. If you change to 16:9, all the camera is doing is copping the top and bottom of the frame. Â 2. The Digilux 3 has a 2X crop factor. So the 11-24, is going to equate to a 22-48 in 35mm terms. If you are looking for a 17mm eq. lens, the Olympus 7-14 F4, has a good reputation, though it is big, heavy, and expensive. Â The Nikon DSLRs have a 1.5X crop factor, so right now the Tokina is acting as a 21-36, and the Nikon as a 27-82.5.
