Video with Leica CL?

Has anyone used the CL for video recording? I know there’s a heavy crop when in 4k mode but no crop when recording in FHD. Has the autofocus worked properly or does it struggle to maintain focus in video mode?

I bought the camera with a small hope that I could occasionally use it for video with great results, so I'm very interested to see how this thread pans out. Though these types of threads often see very little activity.

The main issue is that you don't have access to manual settings for the video.

Does it disable the aperture and focus rings for video?

Yes. You only get exposure compensation control when recording videos. The video is nice but you have no options for control besides exposure comp.

D'oh! I thought I was reading this about the Q2 or Q3. As a former CL owner, I knew this.

In the early days of CL ownership I did, on occasion, use it alongside other cameras on video shoots. But the drawbacks were too many and I soon gave up.

It's a great stills camera though.

I think that the video on the CL is intended as an electronic notebook/moving stills feature only.
