I must confess, I am not a fan of the leica file numbering system (by folder)

is there an alternative method?  Would the self naming fully move away from the folder naming and just be number sequential only?

(the folder method employed just creates a very long number to read, even if you are just focussing on the last 3 digits, it’s off putting)

It seems like the manual and thus the system insist on having a 3 digits folder, and that cannot be changed. So it will be L1xx to begin.  Unnecessary. Have a named folder system, but it doesn’t have to appear in the file number, surely.

The European brain reads from left to right, so it is harder to focus on a long line of numbers at the right. I can ‘tune out’ a series of 0’s easier.  I am not dyslexic, but I appreciate what they must endure.

unless someone can point out otherwise, the only recourse is to reset often.  Which will give L10000001, a herd of zebras to look at, but easier to focus the eye on the end sequential number. Which in my case which will seldom get past double digit.

the problem with that, is groups of photos with the same file sequence and folder

other than that, I may import into LR and rename.  Unnecessary faff.

i’m sure there must be some way of rule bending on this, but it doesn’t seem obvious.
