Sammy1964 Posted November 21, 2007 Share #1 Posted November 21, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) After months of seating on the fence (my a.s was getting serious blisters...) I traded my RD-1 for an demo M8 with a 50mm f2.... So here I am for better (image quality...) or for worse (the annoying motor whizz every time you take a picture..) I will try to bring some interesting comments to this site as it has been for me a great source of research and laughter (some of you guys are very funny for photographers..) luigi bertolotti Posted November 21, 2007 Share #3 Posted November 21, 2007 1) Compliments for abandoning the fence ! 2) Post ASAP the s/n of your M8 ! in the last days this has became a must for tihs forum ! 3) Post your first shots ! And don't worry if you know that later you'll get better ones... many of us (me included) like a lot to post M8 pics without thinking too much if they are masterworks or not. Daniel Ortego Posted November 21, 2007 Share #4 Posted November 21, 2007 I’m new to the M8 as well and I can tell you the motor noise is the least of my concerns. In fact, I sorta like it since it gives me a sense of a solid build and detracts from the flimsy power switch. At first, I wasn’t comfortable with the handling because of the super dense body and slippery covering. I purchased the Leica grip and it made a huge difference and I plan on covering both with Griptac. In any event I’m sure you’ll like it as most everyone else. BTW: You will become cynical in a few days so just be aware of that. Regards,
wparsonsgisnet Posted November 21, 2007 Share #5 Posted November 21, 2007 Serge, welcome to the Forum and the M8 club. Once you get over the noise of the shutter you're going to be really happy with the quality of the images. Some decades back, an American writer characterized a new political party that had no definite principles as Mugwump's. That is people who sat on a fence with their mug (face) on one side and their wump (bottom) on the other side. Congratulations

As far as the serial # my camera is 31002xx.... I guess it doesn't mean much about production since I bought a Demo. Thanks for the advice on the Leica grip.... We all are sure the father is going to be more than ever sweet-minded for these many months coming Do you eat early breakfast and both dinner while admiring it smiling to you ? And what does the mother say ? Does she mean : " << §£%*$&+@\# " ?
gwelland Posted November 21, 2007 Share #10 Posted November 21, 2007 Michel - maybe time to lay off the drugs dude ... Serge - congratulations on the new camera. After having the R-D1 you'll no doubt miss the comfort factor of the winder and metallic click of the shutter. However, you'll quickly notice the tremendous image quality and versatility of the M8. Ignore the noise and discontent here and enjoy the camera!
