chris_livsey Posted December 1, 2023 Share #1 Posted December 1, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am looking at a Silver R8 for sale it has, clearly photographed, the serial, last two digits removed: 24372** The Wiki is clear that the 2nd revision block was 2433801 - 2435800 Leica R8 (chrom+black) 1998 and that the 3rd revision started at 2464101 - 2466100 Leica R8 (black) 1998 This is confirmed in the archived: nemeng.com - Leica FAQ - topic (archive.org) The 22x's were early production, then there's sudden jump to the 24x's and then another jump to the current 275's This search page Leica Serial Number Lookup [Quickly searches 4332 records] - Red Dot Camera returns the full serial as assigned: Minilux build in the year 1998 I am happy this is a R8 camera, rather obvious but it would be good to know if it was 2nd or 3rd revision this is 1,400 past that cut off so not a trivial number, or is this yet another example of the unreliability of Leica serial list LOL
