WigertP Posted November 23, 2023 Share #1 Posted November 23, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I'm completely new to the world of Leica. However, I recently acquired my first Leica Q2 in a used but mint condition. After spending some time experimenting with it, I'm genuinely impressed by the remarkable image and build quality. Transitioning from the X100V, this Leica feels like a substantial and professional tool. Now, onto my inquiry and concern... I've noticed that the power switch seems a bit rigid; I have to exert more force to operate it compared to the shutter dial. For those of you who own a Q2, do you find that the shutter dial and on/off switch have a similar level of resistance when being moved?
Advertisement Posted November 23, 2023 Posted November 23, 2023 Hi WigertP, Take a look here Should the power switch be this rugged/stiff? . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
chetccox Posted November 23, 2023 Share #2 Posted November 23, 2023 No, neither on q2 or q3. The x100v was difficult but not the leicas.
Knorp Posted November 23, 2023 Share #3 Posted November 23, 2023 The power switch on my Q3 is also pretty stiff. Unless you feel it takes excessive force I wouldn’t bother too much.

My X100V was easy to turn on/off and the Leica needs a bit more force. Shouldn’t it feel more like the shutter dial? Thats the right level of stiffness for me. Guess it’s some variation from camera to camera. Good thing is it won’t accidentaly turn on when put down in the bag.
stuny Posted November 23, 2023 Share #5 Posted November 23, 2023 My Q is similarly stiff. I feel there is one downside to that: One can too easily overshoot the single image on position, going to multiple image on position. If one switchers it on while not looking there is a risk of taking multiple photos when not intending to do so.

Unlike the Q2/Q3 the Q has a three position switch: Off, Single, Continuous. It was easy to turn the switch past single to continuous. It's a change I liked when they went to the Q2 to not do it.
