Besprosvet Posted November 13, 2023 Share #1 Posted November 13, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi everybody. I own an M240 and an M246. Since I shoot very often handheld at night, I was considering to upgrade my M246 to an M10M or an M11M. In his M11M review, Jonathan Slack (https://www.slack.co.uk/leica-m11-monochrom.html) highlights how the blue channels are kind of brighter on the M11M, especially when compared to the M9M. Before upgrading I'd like to know the magnitude of this "blue channel thing" for each iteration of the monochrom. Could anybody owning all thee monochroms do a comparative test? In the meantime, owning the M240 and the M246, I made a quick test this morning to see if the M246 renders blues brighter compared to the M240. To me, it seems that the M246 still gets brighter blues while rendering warm colors darker when compared to its color sibling. What do you think? The images have been shot handheld at 400iso with a Voigtlander 35mm 1.4 Nokton II SC at f4.5, from above: Image 1: M240 imported in Lightroom with Adobe Color profile saturation set to 0 Image 2: M240 imported in Lightroom with Embedded profile saturation set to 0 Image 3: M246 imported in Lightroom OOC Image 4: M240 imported in Lightroom with Adobe Color profile OOC Image 5: M240 imported in Lightroom with Embedded profile OOC Welcome, dear visitor! dpitt Posted November 13, 2023 Share #2 Posted November 13, 2023 (edited) Maybe the differences between M generations are caused by the decreasing sensitivity for IR over the generations. My M8 was really sensitive to IR light, the M9 still is but much less. It still benefits from UV/IR filters. So, I think the M240 might be slightly more sensitive to IR. I think that if one compares the M9M with UV/IR mounted with the M11, the channels will be more similar. Edited November 13, 2023 by dpitt
