Stef63 Posted November 5, 2023 Share #1 Posted November 5, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everyone, I've stumbled upon a pristine 70mm f2.5 Summarit-S from 2019 that triggered my interest for use with my SL2 camera. However, there's some uncertainty with the seller regarding whether the autofocus motor has been updated. I'm under the impression that Leica rectified the AF motor issues around 2017/2018, so a lens manufactured in 2019 should presumably not be affected, right? Additionally, I'm trying to confirm if the lens firmware must exceed a certain version (e.g., XXX.46.XXX) for compatibility with the SL/SL2 bodies. Would it be reasonable to assume that a 2019 lens would already be equipped with firmware beyond this level? Since I don't own an S system and I'm not certain if the seller can upgrade the firmware or verify its version, I'm relying on information from a 2016 article that already referenced this firmware level requirement. I would truly value any insights or confirmation. Thank you in advance!

Pieter12 Posted November 5, 2023 Share #2 Posted November 5, 2023 If you have the serial number, Leica AG should be able to answer your questions.

Had the same issue with a pre-owned 3.5/24 - unobtainium. Leica confirmed that for my lens the AF hasn't been updated. No problem, since lens works on S3 and SL2-S, waiting till it breaks. Waiting time in customer service is 5 months for Af-motor replacement as of March, 7, 2024... Edited March 16, 2024 by Doc_P
