andybarton Posted November 4, 2023 Share #2 Posted November 4, 2023 Welcome. Push the button just to the left of the lens (at 9 o’clock), and twist the lens counter-clockwise.
jaapv Posted November 4, 2023 Share #3 Posted November 4, 2023 Welcome. That is a nice present and one you should cherish. It is not surprising that you cannot remove the lens, the mount is damaged. Do not try and force it off yourself. The good news is that it most likely can be repaired by a specialist repair service like DAG (Don Goldberg) Both camera and lens need attention anyway, a CLA (clean, lubricate, adjust) Once that is done you will have a fine camera for the coming decades. The camera appears to be in an excellent cosmetic condition. Get that strap off. The metal is damaging the eyelets.

jenpics Posted November 4, 2023 Author Share #5 Posted November 4, 2023 Hi andy yes I did that and nothing happened. I pushed in the button by the red dot, turned to left and to the right and it does not move. Perhaps there is another lever to pushdown as well? the button does not depress very far down perhaps it is broken? Jen

andybarton Posted November 4, 2023 Share #8 Posted November 4, 2023 If the button latch is broken, then it will need specialist attention. Good luck!
jaapv Posted November 4, 2023 Share #9 Posted November 4, 2023 It is clearly dented and stuck. Somebody probably dropped the lens and forced it on. Better to use a specialist third party like DAG or Sherry Krauter. Leica has few if any parts and will be exceedingly expensive - if they are able to do a proper job at all, which I seriously doubt. https://www.dagcamera.com/contact.html https://www.sherrykrauter.com/
