okcomputer Posted November 2, 2023 Share #1 Posted November 2, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I recently purchased an M7 (looks like an earlier model) from a forum. My first test roll with it showed severe underexposure and many skipped frames. Please see the attached photo. No chance of the lens cap being on (plus, the AE time would alert me to this). This happened in a few places in the roll. Any thoughts on what might be going on? Could it be a battery issue? Also, sometimes when looking through the viewfinder, the shutter speed is flashing (not turning on and off, but going from bright to low and back and quick pace). These speeds are not at the limits of the shutter speed range, but say... "45". I can't find reference to this in the manual. thanks for any insight! Welcome, dear visitor! a.noctilux Posted November 2, 2023 Share #2 Posted November 2, 2023 First, I'd replace the battery. If you have a voltmeter, measure the voltage (even this means only good for open circuit; not in real life use). What is the reference of the battery inside ?
okcomputer Posted November 2, 2023 Author Share #3 Posted November 2, 2023 Got it, let me do this, and report back. The "BC" message was also coming up in the viewfinder occasionally.
madNbad Posted November 2, 2023 Share #4 Posted November 2, 2023 The “BC” code is for Battery Check. Try a fresh set.
okcomputer Posted November 2, 2023 Author Share #5 Posted November 2, 2023 Just to close this out - replaced the batteries, ran through a roll, and everything is perfect. Thanks.

anonymous Posted November 4, 2023 Share #7 Posted November 4, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry if off-topic, but sometimes I read threads like these and just appreciate what the internet has done to communities like this. OP had a problem and it was quickly resolved from you all just because you care about this stuff. So cool! Kudos to all! Enjoy your M7, friend.
edstock Posted November 14, 2023 Share #8 Posted November 14, 2023 Always check the battery first. I've had my M7 since Leica first introduced them back when. Never a problem, and it has seen a lot of Europe in all kinds of weather. Enjoy!
