reynoldsyoung Posted October 30, 2023 Share #1 Posted October 30, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) This app is consistently working in the background draining my iPhone battery....any thoughts?? I have signed out of the app, turned off background refresh and it still takes the battery. Had to delete the app to stop it. Advertisement Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Hi reynoldsyoung, Take a look here Leica FOTOS working in background draining iPhone battery. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
newtoleica Posted October 30, 2023 Share #2 Posted October 30, 2023 Mine doesn't. Are you up to date with both app and OS?
Siriusone59 Posted October 30, 2023 Share #3 Posted October 30, 2023 Thanks, that's a good thing to be aware of. Checked my Android phone and Fotos was also using a bit of battery, but worse than that it also kept a record of the "mobile data usage" which was several GB. I had the phone run its optimization app for power consumption which shut off the mobile data and reduced the battery consumption to practically nil. Maybe I should update the Fotos app and check again.
reynoldsyoung Posted October 30, 2023 Author Share #4 Posted October 30, 2023 Yes...up to date on both....strange! May reinstall app and see what happens

Have you tried going to iOS setting, slide finger down to show search box, type in background. It prompts background app refresh. Then choose Leica off to off? FusionX.Photo Posted October 30, 2023 Share #8 Posted October 30, 2023 No problem with mine on iPhone, just checked and it’s not even listed under battery when not using it.

Olaf_ZG Posted October 30, 2023 Share #10 Posted October 30, 2023 I just checked, no batt usage with fotos, but then, I tend to close all app on my phone regularly.
Qwertynm Posted November 1, 2023 Share #11 Posted November 1, 2023 what percentage does it show? If I go to last 10 days Leica FOTOS had 4min on screen and 21h 40min background activity using 3% of my battery, which isn't much. For comparison Mail.app was 2%, so whatever
reynoldsyoung Posted November 1, 2023 Author Share #12 Posted November 1, 2023 I have deleted the app so don't have current figures. I will reinstall and see what I get today...many thanks!!
MikePolo Posted November 2, 2023 Share #13 Posted November 2, 2023 I had noticed this issue before. The battery on my iPhone 14 Pro was draining quickly. Later, I changed the WiFi setting from "Performance" to "ECO" in the Q3 settings, and that solved the problem.
reynoldsyoung Posted November 2, 2023 Author Share #14 Posted November 2, 2023 I reinstalled the app, signed in on it and it is no longer draining. I have no idea why it corrected...but, it apparently has. Many thanks for all the input! Mystery!!!
filzer Posted November 3, 2023 Share #15 Posted November 3, 2023 Depending on your settings, the app gets the phones gps position and sends it to the camera for putting the location to the picture. (If you change to eco, i believe this won’t happen automatically anymore but i am not sure.) I think while there is significant more battery usage, it is okay for the added functionality. it can drain the phone on a long photo taking session, so if you don’t need gps then stop it, when traveling you might be happy for the location info in the picture
reynoldsyoung Posted November 3, 2023 Author Share #16 Posted November 3, 2023 Great thought Filzer...probably what going on.....constant Geotagging effort! Many thanks...will turn it off and what the app drain today!!

Yet, you can turn it on when needed. FOTOS doesn't even show up on the list of apps effecting the battery. Many thanks, Filzer!!
