AZach Posted April 12 Share #21 Posted April 12 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) The Finlandia Concert and Congress Hall (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finlandia_Hall) in Helsinki by Alvar Aalto was originally opened December 1971. The architect wanted to bring in the Mediterranean atmosphere and insisted Carrara marble to be used in all facades in- and outside. Unfortunately this marble was not stable enough in our climate and it has to be rebuilt 1999. The problems started to reappear 2013 and when the Hall was totally restored 2021 - 2023 the marble was totally replaced by Lasa marble claimed to be more resistant. The Hall was reopened January 2025. Despite all these difficulties this venue has never stopped to inspire visitors attending concerts and other programmes organised there. Welcome, dear visitor!
