KaKa Posted October 20, 2023 Share #1 Â Posted October 20, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear all, As a wildlife- and Bird photographer I am considering to purchase a 1.4 converter to my 100-400mm lens for the SL2-S. Since the Sigma and Leica converters are showing a high price difference I am wondering whether any advise regarding which one to buy can be advised. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Is your 100-400 the Sigma branded lens or the Leica rebranded lens? I don`t think it makes much difference, though.
tritentrue Posted October 20, 2023 Share #3 Â Posted October 20, 2023 The Sigma appears to be the same optical formula and similar in other ways as well, as does the Lumix counterpart. Â All are made in Japan. When I had the SL 100-400mm I used the Leica 1.4X with it, with disappointing results. Â I got better results with a Sigma TC-2011, but it did not show up in EXIF data, where only the lens info was recorded. Â I didn't see any issues with stabilization. Â Poor performance (both AF and optical) with the 1.4X on the SL2-S was what prompted me to ditch the lens.
