Orguy Posted October 17, 2023 Share #1 Posted October 17, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I finally got my Q3 from B&H this weekend after months of wait. My question is what should I check before my return period expires? Here’s what I have read: shoot a white wall at f16 to look for sensor dust, look in lens for defects or dust etc., blemishes on camera, run through settings for correct operation. Since there are unique problems people have found on the Q3, anything else I should check? Thanks in advance! 1
Advertisement Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 Hi Orguy, Take a look here New Leica Q3. What should I check?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
MikeD70 Posted October 17, 2023 Share #2 Posted October 17, 2023 You have two years of warranty from the start, so go out and shoot it like you stole it. If there are problems along the way, you will find them, and Leica will fix them. Not many have had serious problems reported that I've seen. I did have mine skinned at Alphagard, it's an extra layer of protection all the way round, and it looks good. Have fun with your new camera, don't worry about problems you may or may not encounter along the way, unless they happen. Just put in a battery, and if it turns on and shoots, you're ready to go. 9
reynoldsyoung Posted October 18, 2023 Share #3 Posted October 18, 2023 Terrific advice from Mike. Having used my Q3 for a while, don't look for problems with this wonderful camera...they probably don't exist. Enjoy!!

As Mike said go out shooting and learning your new device, you have 2 years to iron out the problems and in that time there will be firmware updates as well. It is a great update to Q and Q2, and they were great. Don't skimp on cheap and slow SD cards. Stick with official batteries and chargers. One thing I don't like of the Q(116) which I have on loan until my 3 comes it needs a grip and has none. So I have resorted to going back to a over shoulders strap rather than a wrist strap. I have bought a third-party grip. I also got a Otect 'Q-Cap' far superior to the Leica cap. I am ready for the Q3 but I wonder if I will get it before the Q4 is announced........
nonoirie Posted October 19, 2023 Share #5 Posted October 19, 2023 Congrats on your Q3! a. Check to see if you have the latest Firmware (1.3 made all the freezes go away for me) b. Go get yourself a solid SD card. c. Portable USB-C charger will come in handy. d. After few thousand shots, ask yourself if you need grips, straps, thumb support etc.... thumb support was a game changer for me. e. Shoot away!! 1
