qqphot Posted October 18, 2023 Share #21 Â Posted October 18, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I don't think you can expect too much more from an uncoated Elmar which as you say has a lot of scratches on the front element. These pictures show pretty much what you'd expect from that in my opinion - bright areas bloom over the whole image area. In more subtle lighting it can look nice. Advertisement Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 Hi qqphot, Take a look here Help ... Is this normal for my Leitz Elmar?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
earleygallery Posted October 18, 2023 Share #22 Â Posted October 18, 2023 The 'lot of scratches' are the issue I think. Even uncoated a good Elmar should produce excellent results, it was the lens that 'made' Leica.

I suspect that your lens might be suffering slightly from internal haze. A CLA might be a good idea. P.
mingaun Posted October 18, 2023 Author Share #24 Â Posted October 18, 2023 I think you are all right. I suspect its the lens. Maybe I was expecting too much from it. Not sure if it is worth getting it CLA'ed. Maybe try to get another one which is coated and in good condition. Will see. But thank you all for your recommendations and advice. Appreciate it.
