I took both on a couple trips. The 18-56 has a much better focal length for a crop sensor. The Leica is packed with nice color and contrast. The Sigma to me looked "flat". I could get the shots to look nice after some processing but when I switched to the kit lens it really opened my eyes to how good that little lens is. The only area where the Sigma comes out ahead is the constant 2.8 aperture. But, I sold the Sigma and the 18-56 found a permanent spot in my bag.

Waterfall country in Wales is with the 18-50 (handheld :) ), Vernazza apartments with the 18-56. Both with my CL.

I don't have any direct comparisons, just that processing was so much easier with the Leica.

Thank you very much for your response. I used 18-56 a lot on my T and CL, but I was not very satisfied on SL2. The small size was indeed very practical for traveling.

I hope the sigma that I am expecting any day would give me enough satisfaction in full frame.

Thanks again

I finally received a Sigma 28-70 because  it is smaller than recommended 24-70, and more convenient for walk around photography.

At first, I didn’t like its cheap and plastic looks, comparing to the Leica metallic and beautiful built. But after a few tests, I realized the glass is quite good. Despite a few renderings that were not at my taste, I thing it gives better results on SL2 than the small Leica 18-56.

Looking good!

Not sure why I didn't catch that you're talking about the 28-70 not the 18-50...Sorry about that. I had the 28-70 as well and liked it as it's about 1/4 size of my 24-90. :)
