ethan sprague Posted October 8, 2023 Share #1 Posted October 8, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Please allow me to apologize as these have probably been asked previously many times but I have scrubbed the net for answers before bothering you people. #1- with the M to L adapter, will an old lens like a 50 mm summitar or summar give me the same look as it would will a full frame M camera? I love defects. Flair and vignetting- love to old school look. #2- with the M to L adapter, are there any lenses that will collapse fully into the body safely? I have looked all over and even called Leica but no definite answer. ( after 30+ years of using Plaubel Makina 67 and 67W I have a “thing” for being able to collapse a lens and love the ability to fold the lenses in) thanks in advance for any ideas or recommendations! I swear I put many hours in on google regarding this before posting here!
Advertisement Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 Hi ethan sprague, Take a look here Leica CL - 2 questions. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pop Posted October 8, 2023 Share #2 Posted October 8, 2023 #1 As the sensor in the CL is clearly smaller than the image area of an M type body, some of the peculiarities of your (older) lenses might not show on the CL as prominently as on an M, with the exception of an M8, of course, which has a sensor the same size as the CL. #2 There is a list of M lenses that are supported by the M to CL adapter: https://leica-camera.com/de-DE/fotografie/accessoires/adapters/m-adapter-l-schwarz#. I presume that any collapsible lens in that list can be collapsed on the CL as well. I have only directly experienced this with the 50mm 1:2.8 Elmar which collapses just fine on the (digital) CL. I rather thi the printed instructions that came with the adapter actually mentioned the use of collapsible lenses, but I'm not sure; its been quite a while that I looked into that instruction sheet. jaapv Posted October 8, 2023 Share #3 Posted October 8, 2023 1 As the camera has a crop it will use the best part of your lens. In general old lenses will perform surprisingly well And no, the M8 has an APS H sensor hitch is larger than the APS C sensor of the CL.
