Thomas Jefferson found his main home of Monticello too busy to get any relaxation or contemplative time.  There were often 50 or more guests in attendance - many of whom he did not know.  So he designed and had built a small house in the middle of the Virginia woods called Poplar Forest.  Just two bedrooms, a dining area and a back porch.  There were outbuildings for enslaved servants who cooked and cleaned for him, but the octagon shaped building was his retreat.  This is a recreation of his dining room.  M10+35mm Summicron-M.
