Having just updated my camera to firmware 1.3.0 I have noticed that the selected user profile is not saved when the camera is switched off. In other words, when the camera is next switched on the default Leica profile is always used.

I wondered if anyone else had experienced a similar problem.

This may have been a false alarm. In spite of the fact I reproduced the problem a number of times by switching the camera on and off the camera appears to have needed a little rest and has now recovered. You will be reassured to know the problem no longer appears to be reproducible[1].

[1] Except on occasion <sigh>. It may be something on which to keep an eye.

I'm on a Q2M, I love the image output but running firmware 5.0 the user profiles are not 'sticky'. It seems that the camera will happily re-assign itself to a different user profile (it seems to default to standard without warning) even without switching off. Changes to individual profiles don't always seem to be recorded in the profile. I haven't yet identified the pattern for sure but suspect I have.

Yesterday I was shooting in a wood and the light and tones of the autumn trees leaning over a small pool of water were amazing. Unfortunately the camera had spontaneously flipped profiles and the 400 I thought I was shooting in (Landscape profile) had suddenly become 1600 on the default profile. Which meant that when I got the images on LR they were OK but lacking the level of detail I was aiming for, expected and had selected. Not good or professional.

It appears to be that settings changed in the deep menu structure are saved but as soon as something is edited by the quick menu the camera simply defaults back to standard.

I have some unrelated annoyances like where is the overexposure zebra, grid etc on this camera but of course non existent functions are a different level of irritation than basic ones which don't work.

Is there a specific place to report firmware bugs? I've had a look but can't see anything other than a generic UK customer care email which appears to be focussed on body repairs. Personally in 2023 (and the investment needed) I don't find sending bug reports off onto a generic email with a autoresponder saying it will be passed on, no logging, feedback or ticket system acceptable.

*edit: I've found a software based email and have written to that.

am having the same issue, Stephen..

Well, that's a relief that I'm not the only one. I've just again for the first time today switched on the camera and the camera was on my own default profile when I switched it on. Sometimes yesterday the camera seemed to save the profile I was using (in the sense that when the camera was next switched on that profile was active) but on other occasions it definitely did not (so when the camera was next switched on it was using the default Leica profile). I can't be certain now whether it was showing the "cancel” icon to which you refer but it may well have been. It's a bit of a trial because it means checking the profile each time I switch on the camera.

I think all we can do at present is to wait to see if there are other similar reports as more people upgrade to firmware 1.3.0.

Essentially we all need to email support and point out the problem. I've done this but a single user report may may be interpreted as user error, when multiple people complain, especially about a core function, action is more likely I'd imagine;-)

Just did...

"Hey, there!

After updating to 1.30, the Q3, when turned off and back on, does not return to the profile previously selected.  It returns to “Cancel” or “Default” profile.  One must reselect the desired profile each time the camera is turned on.

FYI….

Many thanks!

Wish I had seen this before I wasted a couple of hours thinking I must be doing something wrong!

Finally I gave up and reset the camera and now it is saving my changes into the default profile which is all i wanted to do in the first place!

Please see my comment in the other thread you posted in. Your changes are NOT being saved to the DEFAUL PROFILE. You cannot change the DEFAULT.
