According to Leica that is not completely accurate. Please don't shoot the messenger: I'm merely passing on what software support told me.

You are correct Stephen. The post is wrong in a couple of points:

1) If you select a User Profile and modify it, It is not marked with an "x". Rather, in the quick menu, the user profile number on the icon disappears. If you check the current profile in the full menu it will show "selected" if a profile has been selected and not modified. Otherwise it does not show "selected"

2) The profile marked with an "x" is actually the "Cancel" function to get you out of the menu.

3) If you set a user profile and modify a setting, then turn the camera on and off nothing will change. You start up with exactly the same settings. The Default profile is not selected.

The first sentence is correct. Any changes to a user profile are only saved if you save the current settings to either that profile or a new one.

This is tested on FW 1.3.0

Yes—I agree with all of that, Corius. It's exactly what Leica software support indicated to me (together with the aspirational improvements mentioned in the thread in which is the post to which I previously linked).

That’s how it works too with my Q2 and M11. Select a user profile, change a setting and when you switch it off/on the user profile with the adjusted setting remains.

I finally got the hang of it. Once I realised it wasn't saved until you navigated 5 button presses (roughly) and memorised which user profile you'd been in to start with and then save the changed profile.

I understand it's a compromise between 1. Those who want changes sticky in the current user profile vs 2. Those who would be annoyed that their profile had been permanently altered. I'm in camp #1 and feel that if you're in camp #2 you could always have an on the fly profile that is the only one you edit settings for. Ideally it would be a menu setting as to whether sticky or not.
