YUHA Posted September 25, 2023 Share #1 Posted September 25, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I want the camera to remeber the last seeting I changed, It seems to me the only way to keep your settings unchanged when you turn off the camera/take out the battery is to use a user profile. If you change a setting you need to save it again in order the camera will remember it. I could not find other solution. If you change the defult profile on some settings it gets back to the "defult"...
Advertisement Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 Hi YUHA, Take a look here Do you use User profile ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Le Chef Posted September 25, 2023 Share #2 Posted September 25, 2023 Create a new profile that has the settings you want. Name it and then save it. Once you have done that you can select that and it will become your new default. Instruction book explains it better than I can.
YUHA Posted September 25, 2023 Author Share #3 Posted September 25, 2023 notived that but if you make any change to the user profile there is a new profile created named cancel X
Marc B-C Posted September 25, 2023 Share #4 Posted September 25, 2023 I use 5 different user profiles on my Q2 and have no problems with any of them. If I make any amendments whilst in use, there is no new profile saved. I can revert to the saved ones very easily, either in the summary menu or the full menu. Or save it under a new name and create a new profile. As Marc says you have the opportunity to create 5 different profiles with different names if you wish. It’s no different from saving computer files. Edited September 25, 2023 by Le Chef
Denebola Posted September 25, 2023 Share #6 Posted September 25, 2023 It would be very interesting if those who use the profiles explained how they configured them, I think it would be a good source of inspiration for everyone. Den

LocalHero1953 Posted September 25, 2023 Share #9 Posted September 25, 2023 Depends on the camera, but I always have a My Default and Video FHD. On the Q2 I also have Macro. On the SL2-S I also have Flash, Burst and Video UHD.
thierry40 Posted September 30, 2023 Share #10 Posted September 30, 2023 I use a couple of user settings, normal, street, speed that I use to reset once I have modified settings during a shoot,,, it’s like a base I return to when I lost track a little on my setttings. So I know exactly where I am once calling up the setting I want … and start back I don’t use them as is but that allows me to return to a known point
Derbyshire Man Posted September 30, 2023 Share #11 Posted September 30, 2023 Out of interest how many of you are on the latest firmware? I'm on 5.0 for the Q2M and change of settings not reliably saved, randomly changes profile and definitely changes profile if anything changed on the quick menu. It's a bit tiresome. thierry40 Posted September 30, 2023 Share #12 Posted September 30, 2023 I did download every available firmware update and my settings are working perfectly
Avatar Posted October 1, 2023 Share #13 Posted October 1, 2023 Just updated to firmware 1.3 and have a question about profiles as well. I might be having a brain fart but I've watched complete set up videos and have the Q3 set as I want. Some of the changes I make are lost when i shut the camera off. I did have it set up with a profile but didn't save it to the SD card. I've gone through detailed video instructions and can use some assistance! I rather not have a profile..but want my changes to be as I have made. Some changes made simply revert back to default when the camera is switched off. I'm sure I am missing something simple but...I'm missing whatever it is! Feedback appreciated.

All seems a bit random to say the least. I've got standard, landscape, portrait, but you've got no idea if any of the settings will stick or suddenly revert to something I've tried to turn off like sepia, ping, it's back on!

I didnt want to post and embarrass myself but I have spent a couple of hours on this to no avail. Before I made the post, I made a profile named USE..then no matter what i did I could not get it to save the settings..I couldn't even select the profile i just made.. I just reset the camera and it seems to finally be saving the settings in the default profile as expected. Gonna experiment a bit but this has been driving me crazy! Actually that is what was happening with me as well. In the last few minutes I made changes to see if it is working as it should with simple the default profile and it's finally fine. When I made the test profile named USE before i finally gave up and reset the camera, I could not choose the new profile either. nameBrandon Posted October 2, 2023 Share #17 Posted October 2, 2023 (edited) I assign user profiles to the custom button to the top of the camera (where ISO lives by default). I set up a standard (as I can't seem to over-write the default profile) profile for my usage, a b/w profile, a faster action profile, a subject detect profile and a landscape profile. I just hit that top button to move between them. Edited October 2, 2023 by nameBrandon
idusidusi Posted October 5, 2023 Share #18 Posted October 5, 2023 User Profiles seem to be a never ending story of woe. So I have made two and saved to an SD card and removed from camera. That card remains in the camera bag 'just in case' - I can't believe people are still having so much 'hassle' with what should be a simple task of having several profiles of their making saved in my view in camera. Those files are very small and should have the ability to be saved in camera and thus never change, UNLESS the user changes them.

They don’t change unless you deliberately choose to save the changes to an existing profile. If you make a change to a profile while using the camera it will show an X telling you that the settings don’t align to the profile chosen. If you shut the camera down at that point, and then restart it will show the default profile. If you then pick the previously chosen profile it will be there intact, but without the changes. The whole process is like saving documents on a computer: you are asked if you want to save the changes you have made to the existing document, or create a new document with those changes, or discard the changes. It all seems pretty straightforward to me.

According to Leica that is not completely accurate. Please don't shoot the messenger: I'm merely passing on what software support told me.
