I rarely use a flash on-camera, but know, I would like to shoot some images with bouncing the flash of a ceiling. I could buy a new or used Leica flash, but why buy when there are other items that might work. So the question is: Is there any danger to the M10 with trying the Minolta auto 320x on the Leica M10? The manuals don't give any information on voltage, but I think I read somewhere, that Minolta flashes from that period have an output of 3V on the shoe and the Leica cameras are specified with 18V.

Anybody knowing, if this flash works on the M10?

Have you reviewed the following?

Then there is a public list of users measuring the voltage of flashes

I suggest using a Leica SF-26 on the M10, I use this on my M10-R. It’s a great combination from the same era, designed together , and documented by Leica as supported

Measure the flash trigger voltage. If it is, in fact, under 18v you ought to be able to use it.  I'm not familiar with the specific flash you're asking about.  All five of my 285HV flashes are well under 6v trigger voltage, but they're also huge; especially on an M10.  I also have a couple of Sunpak Auto 444s that have 6v trigger voltage, but  I finally just broke down and sprung for a used Leica SF-40 for $300.

I measured the trigger voltage and it goes up to 20 V, so I better not mount it on my M10. I did as recommended and ordered a used SF-40 from a second hand dealer with a one year guarantee - supposed to arrive on Monday.

Thanks for the answers and advices.

It's a nuisance and ridiculously expensive for what it is compared to just about any other brand, but it's worth the money when you need a flash for your M.   I bought a used Olympus FL-50R for my Lumix S1 for the outrageous price of $50.  There's absolutely NO reason why flashes with the Leica M pin-out should cost what they do.
