hellohithere Posted September 12, 2023 Share #1 Posted September 12, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) My Q3 is having an odd time issue where it will intermittently record an hour earlier than current time for a few pictures but the rest of the pictures will record the correct time. I've had this issue before the firmware update as well as after. Any advice?
Advertisement Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 Hi hellohithere, Take a look here Q3 EXIF Time Issue. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Le Chef Posted September 12, 2023 Share #2 Posted September 12, 2023 It may be because you internal battery is not charged up fully. Or... If this time change is happening within the same session, check to see if BT and GPS are synching with your camera from your phone. There might be an error there. Aram Langhans Posted September 13, 2023 Share #3 Posted September 13, 2023 Hmm. I thought it was just me. Twice now I set the clock only to have it an hour off. I thought I was just making a mistake in setting the time...... twice. Odd. I wonder if anyone else is having this same issue. I only noticed it because I also use my Nikon Z7ii and in Lightroom I saw the Q3 photos being in the wrong spot on the gallery, so set the clock again.... And then again...... And I do not use a cell phone so no syncing going on with me.
Le Chef Posted September 13, 2023 Share #4 Posted September 13, 2023 Do you take out the battery when you’re not using the camera? Unless the internal battery remains fully charged the camera will lose memory, like date, time, and other settings like profiles. It’s better to keep the main battery in the camera and charge that up after use rather than taking out and leaving it out for a while.
hellohithere Posted September 13, 2023 Author Share #5 Posted September 13, 2023 I leave my battery in and only charge via USB-C. The camera has had a full charge since I’ve had it so the internal battery must be full. It isn’t forgetting the time, it’s just shifting one hour for a few photos and then shifting back to the correct time for the rest. The EXIF data does not show a time zone change (all are GMT -5) but rather a change in the hour. I use the app for GPS but GPS shows the same location for the set of photos, so no time zone change. beewee Posted September 15, 2023 Share #6 Posted September 15, 2023 I noticed the same thing. Seems like time update via GPS was broken in the latest FW and/or iOS FOTOs app.
beewee Posted September 15, 2023 Share #7 Posted September 15, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Looking back a bit, I noticed this issue came up part way through a trip 2 weeks ago where things were fine and then they weren’t and I didn’t update FW on the Q3. The only thing that change was that FOTOs app was updated to v4.0.4 on iOS. I think this is likely the problem so hopefully Leica can fix this in an FOTOs app update. The problem seems specific to Q3 and doesn’t seem to be a problem on the SL2-S since I was using both cameras together and only saw the problem on the the Q3 images.
