luigi bertolotti Posted November 24, 2007 Share #21 Posted November 24, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I haven't a M7, so don't know the "feeling" it can give, and my considerations are "cold" : - A film backup is a good thing to have: for someone, TODAY, mandatory. - I suppose you have a certain M mount lens set , say at least 2 or 3 . - So is more than reasonable your film backup has an M mount. - All "pre-M8" Ms become collectibles by definition, but I doubt M7 will position itself in the "high range"... there is the MP... and "mech only", in the time, I think shall be positioned better in that strange environment named "collectors market". - So, I do not see M7 as INCREASING in value in the future : its positioning in respect to M6 (that has interesting "variants") and MP (that is a "low volume- prestige") can become similar to the M4P/M4-2 vs. the classics 3-2-4 - If one wishes to maintain the value of his M, given that it's not a rarity, cosmetic is very very important: better not to carry it around as a backup... - You can cash in no few money, today... - My conclusion : sell it, buy... A LEICA CL (with or without Cron 40, fine lens on M8), use it as backup (good for 35 to 90, 135 with attention), and you'll surely retain more than 1000 US$ for any kind of use you like (Summarit ? )

Five hundred tops? Nothing. You will spend more on film and developing if you return.
