I contemplate this pair. Where the Q3 will be used as an EDC and when visiting zoos, or watching sports etc is when the VLUX-5 would take over.

Partly I come from this with age and not wanting to lump about with several lenses i.e. heavy gear.

What do people think? Good plan or not. I have downloaded some RAW images, they won't open with DxO Photo 6, but I used the MAC to convert to TIFF, that then works in DxO, and Topaz AI. Results look pretty darn good.

I owned the VLux 5 for a year.

Great camera, though its lowlight capability was lacking.  Used it because at the time I was involved with a Motorsport team…it was extremely versatile…everything from wide angle photos in the pits to tele shots of the car on track.   Only reason I got rid of it (for a DLux 109) was because of the size…it is big!

Now I have the Q (best digital camera I’ve owned IMO)…but I do miss both the DLux and VLux…other than lowlight both were more versatile than the Q.

And both the VLux and DLux produced 16x20” exhibition prints…very capable cameras.

It is true that both cameras are based on  a Panasonic chassis, which are less expensive, but the firmware tweaking is different and I found the Leica version’s color palette more pleasing.  Plus Leica’s service if ever needed is miles ahead of Panasonic…at least in North America.

we've been doing extensive travel for 6 1/2 years with a Q and a Vlux114, partly since we do carry-on luggage only.  My Vlux has gotten rather battered in the near decade I've used it, and the Panasonic-Leica arrangement has come to an end so I just bought a Vlux5 while I still can.  Clearly, I approve of the viability of this pair.

Thanks Stuart, I have decided to go the same route Q3 and VLUX-5.
