sdai Posted November 14, 2007 Share #3 Posted November 14, 2007 I've watched a DVD ... forgot about the movie's name already ... in which a bunch of American kids were traveling in Europe when one of them stumped into a little Italian hotel, the hot chick at reception instantly noticed his camera and asked if it was a Leica M6, the boy said it was actually the latest and greatest M7 with AUTO EXPOSURE, the girl then led him through the back door ... all happened in less than 3 minutes. LOL

sdai Posted November 14, 2007 Share #7 Posted November 14, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) it's this one: EuroTrip (2004) That's it .... it's a really hilarious movie. There's one potential issue using the M8 in the movie though ... the release date of the new Batman movie "The Dark Knight" is set on July 18, 2008, by that time, everyone will be talking about the M9. johnbuckley Posted November 15, 2007 Share #9 Posted November 15, 2007 There's an advertisement in the States for a health insurance company -- Kaiser Permanente -- that shows a woman who is undergoing treatment for cancer. They show her in a variety of activities -- painting, buying a guitar, taking pictures with her M8. It's weird to see the M8 on TV. I must say, she spontaneously buys the guitar, and you can't help but thinking she's spending her money because she has to live for today, AND THAT"S WHY SHE PAID $5000 for an M8! Guest WPalank Posted November 15, 2007 Share #10 Posted November 15, 2007 At least Bale knows how to remove a lens cap! Euro trip is a brilliant film. Did you know it was Matt Damon playing the punk rocker in the beginning of the film?
Venkman Posted November 15, 2007 Share #11 Posted November 15, 2007 Looks like he isn't very much in character but shooting away during a break - which would add to the "camera for celebs with no clue" preconception
Iron Flatline Posted November 15, 2007 Share #12 Posted November 15, 2007 Yes of course, because any celebrity is clueless! If he acts or sings or plays an instrument, he's really just a buffoon, and should be sent back to his trailer for more hair care services. He couldn't possibly have any other skills or interests - and if he does, he's probably no good at it.
StS Posted November 15, 2007 Share #13 Posted November 15, 2007 I can't really picture it, the M8 is not gothic and batwingy enough. A camera couldn't look more sober. Maybe some challenge for a new Luigicase?

brill64 Posted November 15, 2007 Share #15 Posted November 15, 2007 Christian Bale using M8 in new Batman movie. Forum - Batman used Leica M There was a newspaper photo of Christian Bale in Hong Kong whilst filming some scenes for the upcoming Batman movie. He was holding a black M8 but I'm not sure if he is actually using the M8 in the movie or whether he had one tucked beneath his coat and brought it out during a quiet moment between scenes. He was on a pedestrian walkway with Morgan Freeman and all the crew and they were visibly suprised by the huge crowd of batman fans and other lunchtime onlookers that had turned up to watch them shooting. Jay101 Posted November 15, 2007 Share #16 Posted November 15, 2007 If he uses the camera in the movie, then it's likely to be a paid placement as this is big business in Hollywood now - but it would be a smart move for Leica as this kind of subtle advertising tends to work quite well for some brands.
