I recently took delivery of a new strap for my M11.

I had it made by Harry Benz. It’s the second Harry has made for me. This one is a Brogue Wingtips in black water buffalo leather. It’s fairly long so I can wear the camera across my body and it sits at waist height.

I can’t recommend Harry’s work enough. Water Buffalo doesn’t stretch and has a lovely feel - it will last decades and Harry is a master craftsman who uses it to best effect.

Even the stainless split rings he uses are so well built they’ll never be coming undone by mistake. The end where the rings are is cleverly designed so that the rings can never touch the camera and those silly “ears” are not required.

You’ll have to wait a couple of weeks for your strap as Harry makes to order only and thus you can choose exact length, colour combinations etc and he’ll advise if you need help with your choices.

Highly recommended.

Sounds exactly like my RockNRoll Black is Black strap.

Those straps they make are straps for life.

The RocknRoll straps in black are certainly beautiful and easy to wear. However, they stain white shirts. The discolouration can no longer be removed. My comments to the manufacturer about this matter were answered rather derisively. But I didn't find it funny to have to buy a new shirt after wearing them. The manufacturer should be able to process the leather properly!

That would be annoying!

I was similarly annoyed with my new Harry Benz SL2 strap, which turned my fingers black while connecting it to the strap lugs.  I sold it and replaced it with the more versatile and functional (especially when using zoom) Peak Design Leash.

I stick with the Leica 14312 strap for all my M cameras.  Easy to change lengths for different carrying methods, light and flexible.

Did you ask Harry why?

Mine is black and there’s no dye coming off it at all. My other one is brown and about 12 years old and never happened to that one either.

Somewhere around my second digital M - probably around the first typ 240 - I gave up on bespoke leather accessories.
But, that said it is a fun phase to go through.

I sadly inherited an olive Leica half case with my pre-owned M11. It’s been sat on my desk since it arrived, waiting for me to get round to listing it for sale somewhere!

This seller on ebay is not often (never) mentioned but I bought two straps from him and I am very happy with the quality.

Seller JANZLS on ebay

He made me an adjustable leather neck strap with the same design as this wrist strap

I have 3 black RocknRoll straps in (heavy) use, no problems with stained white shirts whatsoever...not even when brand new. However, I bought them in 2020, so perhaps they have changed their production process? I use 3 black slim straps and 2 normal (wide) straps.
