LarsOtium Posted August 11, 2023 Share #1 Posted August 11, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anyone have first hand knowledge of whether a RRS hand grip for Q2 will fit Q3? In particular, I am wondering about impacting use of tilt screen. Thanks.
Advertisement Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 Hi LarsOtium, Take a look here Really Right Stuff Grip. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
LarsOtium Posted August 12, 2023 Author Share #2 Posted August 12, 2023 Found my answer at B&H Photo for those curious: No, Really Right Stuff Leica Q2 L-Plate with Grip is not compatible with the new Leica Q3 Digital Camera. The dimensions and batteries between Q2 and Q3 are slightly different.
luetz Posted August 12, 2023 Share #3 Posted August 12, 2023 I made an enquiry with RRS recently and the reply was that "RRS have no short term plan for a re-design for the Q3". I love my L bracket Grip on the Q2 and was hoping for better news...
LarsOtium Posted August 12, 2023 Author Share #4 Posted August 12, 2023 I bit the bullet and ordered Leica grip. Would have preferred RRS as it provides better protection if you are ever unfortunate enough to drop camera. Oh well…
IanrM Posted August 12, 2023 Share #5 Posted August 12, 2023 I ordered a cheap (albeit £65 !) grip and when I received it it was slightly out of alignment with the battery and card slots and made it difficult to use. Probably made for a Q2. I've order an IDS grip instead, so we'll see whether that fits. I specifically don't want the Leica grip as you can't access card and battery and also it doesn't come with Arca Swiss rail.
Nick_London Posted August 12, 2023 Share #6 Posted August 12, 2023 I can confirm that both the battery and card slots are accessible on IDS Q3 grip
Bumblebee Posted August 13, 2023 Share #7 Posted August 13, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) After removing some alluminum from the RRS grip it does fit. Battery and card can be removed but the side door keeps closed (no problem for me because I don't us it 😉) Welcome, dear visitor! IanrM Posted August 16, 2023 Share #8 Posted August 16, 2023 IDS grip arrived today. I'm really pleased with it - battery and card slots work well and Arca Swiss rail works with my Manfrotto tripod and Joby. Probably cost me as much as the genuine Leica grip but it's more workable
