Hey everyone.  Does anyone happen to know how long the turnaround for an SL sensor cleaning / tuneup is with Leica right now?  I know and can see some mess on the sensor, but I also think it may need a tuneup.

Also, does anyone know what the current charge is for this service?  Thank you in advance.  :)

any leica store or good camera store could do it, takes around 10-15 minutes max

if you have the right blower and wet swabs you can do it yourself in the same time or less.

SL601 is easy, SL with IBIS, make sure the camera is ON, IBIS is ON, remove the lens and clean away.

What is a Sensor tuneup?

Five minutes   Walk to my desk, give it a wipe, walk back again. Charge: two wipes, one Euro, three drops of fluid, ten cents.

What I am saying is that I am not going to do this myself.  What I meant by “tuneup” is a service. Just a go over of the camera to make sure everything is working properly.  I don’t know if they offer a service for this or not.  I wanted to ask on here to get any advice, but I will just call Leica and ask. Thanks.

I've never heard a need of such a service. Leica presumably will be happy to check your camera for you, but you'll be without it for weeks if not months and if it is  working properly now, the response will be "conform factory specifications" after they reset it and  took a couple of shots with it. If there should be anything wrong with it, you'll notice soon enough yourself. Digital cameras are maintenance-free. If you feel doubtful about some aspect walk into a Leica Store and have them check it out

As for sensor cleaning, it is generally a DIY thing, but if you don't trust yourself to handle it, many camera shops offer a service which is normally done whilst you wait.( including Leica Stores)

I cannot speak for Canada, but the Leica store in Mayfair in London (opposite Selfridges) will clean your sensor twice a year free of charge, and will check the functioning of the camera body at the same time.  And if you take the camera into the store (pre-appointment made via their web site), you can usually have it back in 2 hours.
