Leica SL2-S or SL with a Leica lens

Hello

i have had a Leica SL for a few month on which I adapted several vintage lenses from Pentax and the Voigtlander 40mm f1.4. I also have a Sigma 45mm dg dn for autofocus shots.

I recently sold it for about the price I bought it as I wanted a rangefinder camera. Went to a Leica store to try the M240 & M10. Not really sure it will fit my needs  🥲 so now I am back to thinking about the SL series.  Based on what I read the 2S seems more appropriate for general purpose, low light etc.
 

Now I am wondering if I should buy another SL (601) with a Leica lens or get the SL2-S and keep using my existing lenses. 
Everyone says glass is the most important part of your kit. 
what would you do ? Upgrade your SL or keep an SL and buy a premium lens? The SL2–S I can have one for 3500€ in a mint condition with 12 month guaranty in a Leica store in Paris.
Whereas the original SL can be bought for around 2000€ in also a very good condition. 
what is your opinion ? Would you go for the older SL and get a Leica lens or choose the body option?

It took me a while to understand your post with your various options and "having" or had SL but looking at M240. So at the moment you don't have a Leica camera if I have understood properly. You did have one Leica SL camera for a short while but sold it. One thing for certain is that you do want a Leica Camera. Perhaps consolidating that commitment warrants the SL2S investment? To have and to hold the SL2S will give you the more up to date system going into the future. Welcome to the Leica world, it's a real commitment.

Each to their own, of course, and the versatility of the SL system helps to make it what it is.

I would (and did) get the SL2-s to use adapted M-lenses. In my case, I added a couple of Sigma Contemporary primes for autofocus.

I have the SL 24-70 f2.8 zoom (excellent performance and great for weddings etc, obviously) but the M and Sigma primes are where the enjoyment lies for me. They are what I use most, I love them. And I’m still hankering after that VM 35 f1.4 Nokton 😂

SL2-S over the SL - for me, without a doubt.  SL2-S has IBIS which is a real game changer, and better low light performance due to the newer sensor design.

Go for the SL2-S ..... and some time in the future get a used SL prime in good condition. You will love the lenses you have until then with the better lowlight capabilities of the SL2-S and also with the IBIS. I did that upgrade from the SL to the SL2-S and would always do it again.

Depending what kind of photography you mostly do. As much I like the minimalistic design of 601, I will go with SL2S for IBIS that very useful in low shutter and large aperture, especially the Voigtlander Nokton lens knowing how difficult to focus at f1.4. Also the multi-shot mode seem interesting if you want "medium-format"-like resolution.

That's what I did - and am not looking back! SL2-S and SL90/2.0. Both used, fantastic combination!

Although the mantra is "it's the glass that's important", that is strictly true only for film. For digital, the sensor and the in-camera colour science are also important.

I have had the SL, SL2-S and M240 and I think you made the right decision. Now save up for a SL lens!

My specific use cases - stage photography and portraits. I will most likely add a 50 and/or 35 over time, but right now have this covered with M glass. So for me, not being a Zoom fan, the 90/2.0 was the logocal first SL lens.
