Hi

This evening I updated the firmware for my SL2 to 5.1.

Unfortunately, as soon as I did this the camera displayed the following message:

'Lens firmware not supported. Please update firmware.'

I have downloaded the latest lens software SL Lens 09, but when I go into Camera Information the Lens Firmware option is greyed out.

I'm really at a loss regarding what to do next. My lens is a native Leica SL 35mm F2 Apo. I have tried removing this and reattaching but nothing seems to work.

Many thanks

Do you have a Leica shop nearby? If it really is just a question of the lens firmware to be updated, they may be able to do it with another camera body.

However......... I updated the firmware on my SL2-S last year and my Apo-Summicron-SL 75mm stopped working - dead. It was returned to Wetzlar and they fixed it - in six months😬.

I hope you don't have that issue.

Did you update the camera firmware with or without the lens attached?

As I understand it, one should remove any attached lens before updating the camera firmware. Then turn the camera off, attach your lens and turn on the camera - if the attached (Leica SL) lens requires a firmware update, it will immediately proceed automatically. Repeat for each (SL) lens in your kit.

At least, that how it worked for me…..

Good Luck.
