This refers to fixed focal length lenses. Nikon continued to develop superb AI zoom lenses for professionals, especially the f2.8 zooms.
Advertisement Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 Hi graphlex, Take a look here How much does lens size matter? Thinking of getting a Voigtlander to replace my 35mm 1.4 Summilux. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
madNbad Posted July 21, 2023 Share #62 Posted July 21, 2023 To be honest with this thread, I bought the 35 1.4 Nokton because I like its size, having 1.4 lens, the rendering and I have other things to spend my money on.
Ko.Fe. Posted July 22, 2023 Share #63 Posted July 22, 2023 Bigger size comes with heavier weight. Not something I adore. But main factor is in blocking of VF. Especially with hood. I have Nokton 35 1.4 II. Was avoiding first version for years, due to serious optical flaws. II is just well priced mimic of Canadian Summilux @1.4. Glow and such, can't see focus shift and it is sharp in the center w/o. Stepped down it is fine, nothing special lens. I still prefer Summarit-M 35 2.5, but I only own M-E 220 and @f1.4 is good to have if I'm not using flash. It was OK on my M4-2 and worked well on Canon RP.

They haven't visited the forum once since the thread was started and, as such, wouldn't even have seen the very first reply. Perhaps the poster isn't quite as interested in our views considering their difficult predicament as some here might like to think? The poster has been 'active' here since July 2019 and has amassed a whopping 15 posts - this thread included - in all that time. "I recently received an M10 and a bunch of Leica lenses as a gift but honestly..." Honestly? Aye. Philip. You would be surprised, but I have seen people to register only to introduce themselves after they were reading forums for many years.

It is possible, of course, that the OP posted the question and is just sitting back watching what we all type. Pretty rude of them not to acknowledge the more sensible replies though. Perhaps I'm just old fashioned that way? Philip.

rramesh Posted July 22, 2023 Share #68 Posted July 22, 2023 Urushi, it's quite boring and somewhat pointless to have a one-sided conversation. Have you used your gift lenses? Do you have any feedback on using them?

But life has changed so fast for some of us. OP might have something else happening. Threads like this are in the interest of much more than one person to be pissed of at OP. I was one of those who has to make choice. To pay for one slightly trashed Summilux 35 1.4 ELC or get brand new Summarit-M 35 2.5. Later I added brand new Nokton 35 1.4 II and it is still less expensive together than one used Lux. So, I'm happy to share my experience for a broader audience. No thread, no experience sharing.
