Thank you for the response. hmm I wonder if I should buy another one or just go with the Voigtlander close focus one. -

How easy was it to attach lenses to it? -
Issues Attaching Lenses to Techart LM-EA9 Adapter

Why is it a bad idea? I mean I know it might not last long but I thought they were supposed to work relatively well. What do you recommend instead? I could get the Voigt close focus adapter. -
Anyone have issue attaching Leica M lens to the Techart LM-EA9 adapter? I started with my cheaper lens a Leica 50 Elmar-M f2.8 and a Voigtlander 35mm f 2.5. I couldn't get either to fully attach properly. Are these lenses not compatible or do I have a bad adapter? Not sure I want to risk putting my much more expensive lenses on this thing.

I recently received an M10 and a bunch of Leica lenses as a gift but honestly the lenses are much bigger than what I typically used on my Leica M240 when I had it. I used to have 35mm Voitglander F2 Ultron that I loved (it was an ugly lens but it worked great). The Summilux, to me, makes the camera feel so much bigger, maybe ditching the hood will be enough. I have this incredible gift of Leica glass that I would never personally buy and I feel like I should just learn to like them rather then spending money on a Voigtlander f2 ultron or 1.4 nokton. Am I crazy?

What about the Voigtlander VM Close Focus mount? Also looking at the novoflex and metabones options.

I was recently gifted an M10 as well as 6 Leica lenses and I would like to use some of the lenses on a Sony E mount namely the A7IV and ZV-E1. I am wondering what adapter is best. All of the lenses are modern.

Interesting. So you have no "fast" lenses at all. I want to take travel photos. I would also like to be able to shoot indoors. So for you guys though a 35mm isnt too close to 50mm?

Right now I have a M240 and an Elmar M 50mm F2.8. I am interested in maybe getting two more lenses to compliment the Elmar M but I am wondering if it doesn't make sense to keep the Elmar if I am going to have a small lens kit. I would like a fast walking around lens which probably limits me to 35mm. This is very close to the 50mm focal length. What would be a good addition to the Elmar M if you had a 2-3 lens kit?

Thank you very much mdp for the comparison shots!

Thanks for sharing the photos robsonj! I think I have given up on the sub f2 lenses for now. I think I am down to the f2 Ultron and BACK to the f2.8 C Biogon. I like the physical looks of the Ultron better and I imagine the haptics are superior as well but I haven't read enough reviews of the Ultron. I do also like that the Ultron uses 39mm filters which I already own my Elmar M lens.

They just came out with a new version called the "II" which supposedly eliminates 90% of the focus shift. https://www.dpreview.com/news/3646865632/voigtlander-nokton-classic-35mm-f1-4-ii-lens-for-leica-m-mount-will-be-released-in-june

Okay. the C Biogon is out. I have read that the 40mm 1.4 Nokton is better (less distortion) than the 35mm...does anyone know if that is true? I know that no 40mm frame lines are a drawback.

Thank you everyone for the replies. There are a lot of options to consider. A couple of follow up questions. 1. If I go the C Biogon route then I would have 35mm and 50mm f2.8. Is f2.8 enough? I suppose I need to experiment with ISO on my camera. 2. If I wanted a pre-asph 35mm cron where would be the best place to look? I don't mind spending a little extra to buy from a reputable source. 3. I am still considering the Voigtlanders 1.4 Nokton MC II and the f2.0 Ultron asph...they have great character...the 1.4 in particular has flaws that I have never really had to deal with. If I use Capture One Pro 12 can I make a profile that will fix barrel distortion or is it more complicated than that? 4. For the price of a pre-asph 35mm cron I could have the C Biogon and 1.4 Nokton...would this be better or is it just GAS?...I know I shouldn't buy a ton of lenses, especially for a camera I am new to.

What about the Voigtlander 35mm F1.4 II? This new version supposedly has improved optics and maybe less barrel distortion? For the price I really like this lens and being able to have 1.4f might be fun. If the lens is bad though I may just go for the 35mm f2 ultron. I definitely appreciate Leica lenses. The only one I have a 50mm F2.8 Elmar-M in silver chrome. It looks pretty and is fun to use but it isn't that much better than my other M mount lenses from Zeiss and Voigtlander.
