Hello

After some time in reasonably dusty and wet/humid environment (unsure if that's related to the problem), the shutter speed dial on my M10 (D) is very stiff.  I thought it was completely stuck but it does turn with some force.

Has anyone experienced the same, and if so what was the cause/fix?  I wonder also if there is a way to remove and check under the shutter speed dial ourselves  ?

I use my M10 on Auto mode so it's not a big problem for now, but will need correcting eventually

Thanks

Graham

Based on a slightly different experience (stiff power switch on M9) I would guess that some foreign substance has entered the shutter speed selector mechanism and resulted in corrosion or otherwise caused it to jam. There is some kind of seal under the dial that should prevent this from happening.

The selector is an electric switch and part of the top plate assembly. I would not recommend opening it yourself. You could try to carefully clean the seal under the dial with a very thin non-metallic object.

Thanks very much. I’ll try that @mujk

I realised that once the dial is moved from “A” then it can be rotated freely, but moving it from A Is very stiff/stuck each time.

My M10-R black paint is exactly like that. Kind of started up after the camera was splashed by sea spray. It's back at Leica for a different problem, so will see if they fix that as well.

Hope they fix it ! I’ve lost the eye piece along the way on this trip also , so looks like a visit to Leica Aus service centre is on the cards for mine too
