Bobonli Posted July 9, 2023 Share #1 Posted July 9, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm a backpack guy; don't get along well with shoulder bags. I also don't like advertising that I'm carrying gear by using bags that scream "camera bag." I'm looking for an insert to use with my EDC backpack (Tom Bihn for example) that can carry an M body with lens, 2d lens, meter, small digital P&S and maybe some cleaning supplies. Front access, not top. F Stop and Tenba both have models that meet those parameters, I just can't narrow down the size. Hoping someone here is using a similar configuration. I think the F stop ICU Micro Tiny or Shallow Small might fit the bill.

dsj Posted July 18, 2023 Share #2 Posted July 18, 2023 Hey, I have the Tenba BYOB 9, 10 and 13. for bringing what you describe, I’d use the 10. The 9 is for one camera plus one or two lenses, the 13 is for 3 bodies and 5 lenses for me
Topsy Posted July 18, 2023 Share #3 Posted July 18, 2023 (edited) I use one of these, I have both the old orange one which I still use and the new black one if I want to be less conspicuous. The bottom half is a camera pouch with removable dividers whilst the top half is an ordinary backpack for clothes/other stuff. There is also a bladder slot where I can easily fit my Dell Lattitude E7240 if I want to take a laptop. In the camera compartment I usually put 2 M9s one with 21mm fitted and the other with 75mm fitted plus a 28mm and 50mm all separated with dividers. They can be accessed by taking the strap from one shoulder only and swinging the bag around one's body to unzip the camera compartment and the zip can be soft secured by clipping it in location with the top flap clip making it a bit more secure when on the move. If I am not carrying my 3rd M9 with 35mm fitted on my shoulder ready for shooting it can fit (snugly) in the camera compartment or in the top half. There is also a dump pocket on the front of the bag that can hold a lightweight packable rain jacket. The newer bag is slightly different but fits everything listed (I prefer the older bag but still like the newer one and as I said I use both). Welcome, dear visitor! Bobonli Posted July 25, 2023 Author Share #5 Posted July 25, 2023 Answering my own question: I went with an F Stop ICU, Small Shallow. It has enough room for camera with lens attached, spare lens, light meter, small cleaning kit, filters. Fits nicely inside a traditional knapsack like you'd use for commuting back and forth to work.
