AaM6 Posted July 6, 2023 Share #1  Posted July 6, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, Yesterday my Leica M6 light meter started to malfunction. Every time I wind the camera and gently push down my light meter comes on normally, but when I let go of the shutter button the light meter stays on. I will shoot the show and the light meter turns off. But again when I wind the film and gently push down the light meter stays on again.  i should mention it stays on under exposed.  any pointers to solve this? Edited July 6, 2023 by AaM6 Typo
Advertisement Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 Hi AaM6, Take a look here Leica M6 Light Meter. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Warton Posted July 7, 2023 Share #2 Â Posted July 7, 2023 isn't that normal? Manual says so: Pressing it lightly as far as the pressure point activates exposure metering, as long as the shutter is cocked. When the shutter release button is released, the metering system and the display in the viewfinder remain activated for around 14s longer
Anbaric Posted July 7, 2023 Share #3 Â Posted July 7, 2023 Does the meter stay on permanently until the shot is taken, or does it turn off automatically after a while (14s as above)? Do you have an M6 Classic, M6 TTL or the new M6 reissue? When you say it stays on under exposed, do you mean that only one arrow is lit? Can you get both arrow to light up as normal by adjusting shutter and aperture to the correct exposure?

To be honest, I found German's English is hard to understand.

Sorry, my reply was meant for @AaM6 - are they seeing the normal behaviour you describe, or is the meter stuck on until the shutter fires? edstock Posted July 13, 2023 Share #7 Â Posted July 13, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just picked up my original M6. Cocked the shutter, pressed the shutter button down 1/2 way, and the meter activated. Pressed down all the way, shutter fires and the red triangles disappeared. Â I then repeated the cocking to activate the meter, press down 1/2 way red triangles show. Removed my finger from the button and red triangles glowed for about 14 seconds. That's it, anything else is a malfunction.
