Hi,

has anybody experience with corrupt .dng files?

I would love to know if there is a Mac OS App that can repair those files.

I can see that the Data amount looks good , but I can't open the files in PS

cheers Peter

Have you attempted to open the files in something other than Photoshop? Can you still see thumbnail images? Are they on your hard disk, or on a media card? If they are on the hard disk, do you still have the media card, even if the files have been deleted or the card formatted? If so, and the card hasn't been written over too many times, it may still be possible to recover them from the card with Photorec.

Hey, the files are shot with the Sl2s

and they where on a harddisc and ssd.

no, sd cards are formatted.

somehow the harddrive and the backup drive got corrupted and I was not able to mount the drive any more.

i could recover the data, but I can’t open the images although the size of the .dng and jpgs look ok.

adobe raw and photoshop and apple Fotos where tested to open.

and the thumbnails are not visible.

 Cheers peter

Even though the card has been formatted, it may still be worth running Photorec on it, especially if the card hasn't been used much since ('PhotoRec ignores the file system and goes after the underlying data, so it will still work even if your media's file system has been severely damaged or reformatted.'). What method did you use to recover the data from your hard disk? Has anything been done with the backup disk that you couldn't mount?

A useful tool for file recovery is Rescue Pro, which comes free with Sandisk cards. Read the small letters on the pack ;)  Note that it will recover .dng files as .tif, so you have to change the extension.
