Just bought this https://www.ttartisan.com/?list_10/122.html which the company says is compatible with a TL2. However when attaching, the touch screen is blank and the menu system doesn't work. I realise that the TL2 doesn't have a 'release shutter without lens' setting. Obviously this is a 3rd party lens but it's supposed to work! Is anyone able to help? Obviously the camera isn't recognising the lens as the functionality is just the same as it is with the lens cap on.

Thanks

I don't have a TL camera.  Just explore the menu and find an entry which relates to the problem you face. I am assuming you don't have a user manual for the camera. It is good practice to explore the menu to find possible useful features therein.

Already done that and can't find anything.

There is absolutely nothing in the manual about this and I asked Leica. Their 'support' said that they couldn't give advice on 3rd party lenses. Have they heard of customer service and usability? It's advantageous for them for more lenses to be available. I have contacted TT Artisan but they are slow to reply.

It appears when you mount a non native  L mount lens.

No I'm not getting that at all. I just get a black screen where the menu options don't work. There is no lens recognition menu. There's also nothing in the manual about this.

try putting the camera into full manual mode.. another option to consider is that the camera may be switching to EVF mode, hence no rear screen menu..

Just some options to try, hope it helps.

I have never used these lenses on my TL2, they are cheap but not without flaws, although they say that customer service works well, contact them to see if they can give you a solution

Hi everyone, thanks for the help. I detached the lens and put the camera into manual mode first. Then attached the TTArtisan and this worked. Maybe an obvious one but I usually always attach a lens first before switching on. So hopefully this helps others :)

I think TTArtisan has issues with lens mounts. I bought a 35 f1.4, and the mount was shakabilly loose, contacted TTArtisan they sent me 2 mounts, easily replaced, the first one I tried was perfect, I imagine the other would have been tight. I have heard folks saying that a TTArtisan lens being very tight and not clicking in on the mount. With my CL I have to hear a click for a manual 3rd a party lens to work. Sometimes a small movement of the lens in the mount will shut down the camera. Let us know how the lens is.

Ok thanks. How do you get to that in the menu system? Absolutely NO instructions from TT Artisan. So poor on usability.

Lol. TT Artisan had no idea what camera you were fitting lens to on purchase....so blaming them is a stretch. :)

They provide instructions for every camera bar the Leica. I messaged them and they will include in the future :)
