Jskywalker Posted June 13, 2023 Share #1 Posted June 13, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I normally travel with my X113 for my holidays. For my coming holidays, I’m considering to bring the M240 with an 50mm instead. Is this a good choice? Or am I making a mistake? 🤔
Advertisement Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 Hi Jskywalker, Take a look here M240 or X113 for Holidays. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
dpitt Posted June 14, 2023 Share #2 Posted June 14, 2023 You do not specify which 50mm and where you want to take it. So my comment is based on the assumption you are going to fly and take it somewhere reasonably safe. Also, I would not take the M240 in very wet or dusty environments. I would actually prefer to take the M240 with one or two small lenses. For me, holiday equipment is all about compactness and sometimes ease of use. The rangefinder is slightly more work than AF but always fun to use, and even with the 50mm Summicron the M240 is easier to carry in a little pouch or bag compared to the X113 (the X2 is my favorite with the collapsible lens) Maybe I would take an M240 with a smaller lens like the Summicron 40 C or Summicron 35mm, the Summilux 35 ASPH or 28 Elmarit ASPH and28 Summicron ASPH are also very nice traveling lenses. cboy Posted June 14, 2023 Share #3 Posted June 14, 2023 The x113 is relatively small enough so why not take both. The X for casual quick snaps and M for more deliberate shooting. If you just took your M you may find you would of wished to had the X for quick AF shots. I always found the X worked well for casual style of shooting. Jskywalker Posted June 15, 2023 Author Share #4 Posted June 15, 2023 I have a 50mm summilux and a 35mm summilux. Thinking of just bringing one. I’m leaning towards the 50mm so that I need not be too close to the subject. Don’t want to bring 2 cameras because will need to bring 2 battery chargers etc.

Jskywalker Posted July 2, 2023 Author Share #6 Posted July 2, 2023 I brought the M240 with the 50mm F1.4 Summilux ASPH for holidays. The first day, I notice the exposure seems a bit off (under exposed). On the LCD it seems ok but when transferred to my phone it is off. I adjusted the metering and exposure mode and it seems to be ok.
pixie Posted July 12, 2023 Share #7 Posted July 12, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) If a place is not safe, maybe not go! I'd take the Leica M, older model, age will not benefit. Use the sucker! The X camera perfect for all occasions!Take at most 2 lenses.. 35mm and 90mm? Small compact bag, that doesn't SHOUT Leica!

You make the decision.
