o2mpx Posted June 12, 2023 Share #1 Posted June 12, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is there a perspective correction program, addressing wide angle vertical/horizontal distortions, that works on DNG files? Understand the functionality comes with DXP. PhotoLab, Luminar etc., but looking for a standalone program. Have DXO VP but it works on TIFF and JPG but not DNG's. Ideally if the program can be launched inside Apple Photos (yes, know that it's not considered to be a serious tool, but the adjustments for color etc, (but not for perspectives), provided are sufficient). Thanks.
Advertisement Posted June 12, 2023 Posted June 12, 2023 Hi o2mpx, Take a look here Perspective Correction Programs for DNG. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted June 13, 2023 Share #2 Posted June 13, 2023 DNG or not, Photoshop has full perspective controls. Horizontal, vertical and wideangle distortion. I suspect that most if not all major processing programs offer this functionality. No program “works on DNGs”. That is a raw format. It always has to be converted first before you can edit it, except Lightroom which makes virtual changes and applies them during DNG conversion in Export. The correction in the Q firmware is made before the DNG is written. But why not use the TIFF file? After all, DNG is a TIFF file container ( well, a bit more complicated, but the data are interchangeable) DNG is your digital negative, unalterable.
