nineteenfocus Posted June 12, 2023 Share #1 Posted June 12, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) M10 was launched in January 2017 M10-P was launched in August 2018 M11 was launched in January 2022. As I would like to have an M without the dot, should I wait for the M11-P this August (+ new spec, new processor, …)?
Advertisement Posted June 12, 2023 Posted June 12, 2023 Hi nineteenfocus, Take a look here M11 without the red dot (M11-P). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
maxpower Posted June 12, 2023 Share #2 Posted June 12, 2023 There is no guarantee in life, for example the M10-M was launched January 2020 but we already got the M11-M this year. So I think I would not expect a P version this year to be honest, so it depends if you really want to wait or just get the camera already. Depending on my own situation and what is different about the P I would probably be tempted too since I prefer them, but for now I've been enjoying my M11 for 1,5 years now. When the P arrives I'll see what I'll do, stick with regular, swap, or maybe they'll do another upgrade program like they had for the M10? Time will tell.
mike3996 Posted June 12, 2023 Share #3 Posted June 12, 2023 The dot is removeable. You don't need to wait for a new model.
kinetic Posted June 12, 2023 Share #4 Posted June 12, 2023 Yes, for less than $0.05 I was able to start shooting with an amazing camera already without a red dot. Welcome, dear visitor! Kiwimac Posted June 13, 2023 Share #5 Posted June 13, 2023 I’d prefer a P version. My dealer seems to think we’ll see it earlier than next year although he didn’t elaborate as to why. I think it’ll be the same as the Monochrom but with the colour array and the top plate script.

There was an update program officially by Leica for the M10 to the M10P? And btw. similar thread is already open: Edited June 13, 2023 by Jewl

I was not using Leica at the time so not from my own experience, but I have read about a program like that existing yeah, here was a rumor post but if you search the web there are more references from people as well. https://leicarumors.com/2019/04/10/leica-m10-to-m10-p-upgrade-program.aspx/

marchyman Posted June 13, 2023 Share #9 Posted June 13, 2023 (edited) They are called Screw Hole Covers and can probably be found at your local hardware store. You can get 53 of them for $7 on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Prime-Line-Products-KD-16082-Adhesive/dp/B00WSKAA3M Edited June 13, 2023 by marchyman 1

They actually look very nice and clean (not a flimsy sticker). I still have 49 of them from my 50 pack that I'll never use lol.
geesbert Posted June 15, 2023 Share #11 Posted June 15, 2023 Painting the red dot black is what I am doing for years now whenever I get a new Leica. I had to exchange my M11, so while doing the procedure I tried it on the camera after stripping the red paint. What do you think? Leica M11 'Ghost Dot' edition! I love it! My head is still swirling from the cellulose thinner fumes... Welcome, dear visitor! algrove Posted April 1, 2024 Share #13 Posted April 1, 2024 All my M11 are M11-P since I cover the Red Dot with a black circle to increase the street value while decreasing the street curiosity.
GFW2-SCUSA Posted April 6, 2024 Share #14 Posted April 6, 2024 I read yesterday (4/6/24) that Peter Turnley bought a new M11-P from Leica Soho? Meatpacking? (can't remember). That camera will get quite a workout in his hands. He doesn't talk about his gear much at all, so I doubt any reports will be forthcoming from him. He has his well worn 35 Lux and battered lens hood attached.

So you used paint remover to remove the red? And then did you repaint it in black? It has a bit of a grayish tint to it which I also like so that it contrasts with the body black color a bit.
