what (new?) type is this M11S camera ?  what does 'S' stand for ?  and in what way would this M11S dream differ from my dream M11-D ?

I suspect the OP should have written the topic as " M11-S " for consistent Leica nomenclature.

Many M users hope for, the SL2-S 24MP BSI sensor in an M body.

Nope. There is a difference in high ISO color and high ISO pushed shadows noise. Colors of M10 start to look a bit washed out from ISO 3200 and onwards. I shot the M10 next to the LUMIX S1 at high ISO when the latter came out with the same lens and thought, man, I wished that S1 sensor were in the M. M10 basically has the same sensor as M Typ 240. Leica just fixed the banding in pushed shadows noise at high ISO. Nothing wrong with it, but those 24 MP BSI FF sensors rock at high ISO. Plus, an M with its current form factor will never get IBIS with a mechanical shutter.

Just out of curiosity would you be able to get similar results with the M11 at 36mp or does it have to be a native 24mp BSI sensor?

I don‘t know. At some point I may borrow an M11 and compare with the S5 II and SL2-S.

When the SL2 came out, it was obvious that a 24 MP version was needed. There was bitching and moaning about the inferior high ISO pushed shadows noise with that 47 MP sensor in the threads on this forum. The camera had IBIS but it was an FSI sensor. Now it‘s obvious again, IMO. The M11 has a BSI sensor but 60 MP still creates quite a bit of noise in high ISO pushed shadows AND the M has no IBIS.

said the person that disses the M11 without trying it.

I bet on sales the SL2 is a more successful camera than SL2s

In the first linke here are two with the same lens, one with the M10-P (24 MP FSI sensor) and the other with the S1 (24 MP BSI sensor) at ISO 3200. They can be downloaded. If I remember correctly, the M10-P picture required some adjustments in post to try to match the more effortless S1 ISO 3200 output and the S1 colors still looked better.  https://chaemono.smugmug.com/Folder-2/S1-vs-M10/

@Photoworks I tried SL2 vs. α7R IV which has a 60 MP BSI sensor, I understand different implementation than in the M11, at ISO 100 for pushed shadows noise and also α7R IV at ISO 3200 for pushed shadows noise (SL2 not shown at ISO 3200). ISO 3200 pushed shadows noise is a breeze for that 60 MP BSI sensor (SL2 did much better at ISO 100 than the Sony) but ISO 12500 starts to become a bit problematic. I had borrowed the Sony. They are somewhere in here: https://www.smugmug.com/gallery/n-tzdLng/

If the test leads you to understand the cameras I am all for it. But in real life, you need to what the camera processing and sensor show the best results.
in any case, the heavy underexposure of the M10 needed to preserve highlight is not necessarily beneficial for other cameras like the SL2 or Sony.

I think if you push processing to 100 highlights and shadow recovery the image is not natural or reality. Pulling back on that will result in sell noise in the shadows and grey highlights. I like to use Capture One as it has a more natural recovery roll-off.
