wlaidlaw Posted May 29, 2023 Share #1 Posted May 29, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I had hoped in the Q3 manual to find a chart, which would specify what SD card write speeds were required for the differing video resolutions, codecs and frame rates but unless I have missed it, it is not there. At the moment I am using a Lexar Professional UHS-II 64GB card, which I understand has a 120 MB/second write speed. I am not going to be taking a lot of video but what I do take I would expect to match the resolution and max frame rate of my Philips TV's in both the UK and France. These are both 4K with a 60 fps max frame rate for MP-4 codec. I think 120 MB/Sec is fast enough for that but I am not sure. I have no need for 8K as I have nothing to play such a video on. Anyone know where I can find a resolution/frame rate SD card requirement chart? I was going to buy another 128GB card today but not sure whether I need anything faster than the 100 MB/Sec write speed of UHS-II standard. The price for cards faster than UHS-II on Amazon is a lot more than standard UHS-II e.g. 128GB Lexar Professional UHS-II 120 MB/sec £36.67 Lexar Professional X2000 300 MB/sec £156.99. wlaidlaw Posted May 29, 2023 Author Share #2 Posted May 29, 2023 I have managed to find my own answer on an SD card requirements chart on the Kingston website. 8K requires a v90 card but 4K only requires a V60, therefore I can safely use the cheaper Lexar card.
