I put my name on the list at every Leica store  yesterday. The rep's were very honest. I appreciated how some asked if I had any event coming up, and also one that said

the list is long, but.... a lot of people on the list opt out, so they go thru the  list somewhat quickly. One day we will reflect on this, and perhaps giggle. Might be next year, but we will giggle.

I'm in The Netherlands. Put myself on a few waitinglists on june 15th. Yesterday I got several phonecalls I could come and pick it up. Will do on friday. This store in Amsterdam said I was nr 1 on their list and the said the Q3 would probably be in before July 1st, so that was a no brainer. They kept their word.

Not singling you out at all. A lot of folks are doing the multiple order thing.

But this highlights how Leica has no idea the actual demand for the Q3. One buyer has generated five or six "orders", but in reality is only one order.

It also speaks to why retailers have no idea when someone will get a camera as their "list of customers" can vanish and someone who was twenty on a list is suddenly five.

Totally agree...I left a 25% non-refundable deposit after getting a fixed trade in value for my Q2.  Placing multiple orders without financial commitment will not alleviate the ETA question issues.

I‘m #28 on the wait list at the Leica Store in Berlin atm. If the store gets its cameras delivered by Leica in the same numbers as in the last weeks, I will probably have to wait about three months from now on. I can happily wait as I have a bunch of equipment to play with until my unit arrives.

Many of the Leica boutiques I spoke to actually recommended doing the multiple order thing to increase the odds.

Same here. Which makes me thing: they don’t really care or cater to the demand as much as we’d think. And they’re planning to make the same amount of cameras no matter what.

That is a really good way to hike up the hype/exclusivity of a product/brand. 🤔

I don’t understand this. I put myself on Leica Boston’s Q3 waitlist on 5/26 and haven’t been contacted. I even called today to double check I was on it after seeing this report (you getting on the list after me but being called first), and they said mid-August was their best estimate.

Do you have a prior relationship with them or something?

No prior relationship-- I'm assuming that they were calling to offer me a camera, they asked if I was still interested in a Q3, and I said that I'd already gotten one.

Are you local?  I wonder if they're prioritizing people with New England area codes?

Email that your camera is ready to ship??

Yeah. Ready for purchase and ship. They also reserved extra batteries just for leica Q3 purchases, so I had that as an add on. Asked about wireless handgrip and thumb grip (black), and both were unavailable to add.

Huh! Well I’m glad you got one regardless. I am local (Cambridge) but don’t have a Boston area code because of https://xkcd.com/1129/

It’s good to have an estimate, even if it’s August. Helps my sanity more than B&H’s zero-information approach.

Well, after much thought and deliberation I have decided to cancel my order for a Leica q3 at b&h. If anyone ordered after May 30th you’ve officially moved up in the queue and I couldn’t be happier for you.

I decided to stick with my Fuji gear and I ordered a silver xt5! I’m incredibly excited to get my hands on it! I suspect that the 40 megapixels it offers will be far more than enough for my needs.

Congrats on your purchase. You might want to pick some some of the newer glass to take full of the 40 megapixels like the new primes. The 18mm 1.4 looks especially amazing.
I’m still surprised no one else makes a Leica Q style camera. Leica must have so many patients or something. Canon & Nikon can easily make a camera like that but something must be stopping them. Clearly it’s not demand for such a product.

Thank you! I’ll be doing some testing with the lenses I have currently before ordering any new glass. Especially my 35 f2. That lens is the very first prime lens I ever purchased.

the 18 1.4 is certainly tempting but I do own the 16 1.4. I’ll have to see how it resolves 40 megapixels.

anyway in an effort not to high jack this thread, I’d like to congratulate everyone on their eventual ownership of a Leica q3

I’ll be officially signing off this thread.
