While shooting with the M10-R on a SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I Memory Card, I can take a photo...then another one about 2 or 3 seconds later...then another...and then randomly the framelines disappear, and the shutter release does not work. I keep trying to press the shutter release, and a few seconds later, the framelines magically come back and the shutter release works.

Any ideas? Battery is full or close to it.

Thanks

Couple questions for you:

1) what firmware version are you running ?

2) Does the issue occur after doing an in camera RESET ?

3) Was the SD card formatted using the formatting tool from   sdcard.org    ?

4) The SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I  is not the fastest for write speeds,  what's your previous experience with this card ?

5) SanDisk unfortunately has been the target of pirate manufacturers, I recently showed a relative that their SD card was a fake.  For that reason in the last 15 years I've only bought and used various iterations of Toshiba, and with my recent purchase of the M10-R upgraded to the Lexar v60 1800x  and ProGrade v60 SD cards.

Today I was out shooting in good sunlight and shade  (1/500 @ f8 and ISO 200 to 5000) with my M10-R (latest firmware) using a 256GB Lexar (V60) 1800x and 128GB Prograde V60 at one point I was shooting 6 immediately consecutive (almost no pause) single shots (All set to capture DNG+JPEG and JPEG are 40MP) which continued without any pausing (my battery was 40% during the shooting).

The 10r freezes for 2 or 3 seconds after each shot. Might be the card, but it might be also related, now that I think of it, with the review time after the shot, which might be also to blame. Setting it to 0 should allow to shoot in continuous.

After a few shots, the processor may become the culprit, as happens with many other cameras (leica and not) when shooting continuous. Once you fill the buffer, it won't work until the buffer is empty. It is to note that the 10r carries a Maestro II, same as the S3 if I'm not wrong, but the SL2, and the M11 go with the Maestro III.

I'll expand more on my M10-R (FW version 30.22.23.34) settings for this morning's shooting in sunlight and bright shade-

Fixed shutter speed 1/500, fixed f#8 on 50APO,  Auto ISO  and  Auto WB

All image capture set to   DNG+JPEG(40MP)

Image review set to 1 sec.

SD cards using a 256GB Lexar (V60) 1800x and 128GB ProGrade V60 .

At one point I was shooting 6 immediately consecutive single shots, my trigger finger could not have moved any faster, and the shutter fired without any pausing (my battery was 40% during the shooting).

So I suggest that the Socionext Maestro 2 processor in the M10-R is performing admirably in my scenario above .

Yes. This happened to me 3x in 1 year. Each time it was the card. Backup and do a FULL format with SD card formatter (formatting it in camera won’t fix it). This will take a while. After that just do the fast format with SD card formatter each time you back up. It never happened again

if you use Mac or an iOS device to edit photos, lock the card when you insert it to the Mac/iPad.

There’s nothing wrong with the camera.

first time it happened the card was also disconnecting from Leica fotos and sd card readers. I formatted it in camera. Went okay for a while. Then it happened again. I bought a new card. The third time I noticed the card started to disconnect also from fotos.

this is when I started using SD card formatter and that all stopped. I also noticed the sd card filled with Spotlight hidden files.

Thanks for the tips, I will try that! I have always formatted in camera, each time after I download the images after a shoot. Are you saying I should first format on the computer and not format in camera any more?

Yea I don’t even use the format in camera anymore. My camera is smooth as silk since I started formatting AND locking it when I insert to my iPad. But same if Mac.

Download this

https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/

then do the overwrite format first

After that just quick format. I did an overwrite the other day when I forgot to lock the card and bingo. Filled with spotlight files.

All of a sudden my iPad couldn’t even read the card anymore. I thought the reader was bad. No. I did the overwrite and it fixed it.

anyway. I format it with that app,  take it out of the computer, Put it in the camera and off I go. I don’t use the camera format anymore

I don’t know anything about fake cards. I go to the camera store and buy my things. Last card I bought it was directly from Sandisk.

I had previously sometimes problem with the transfer of files to the computer with M10-R, otherwise camera worked fine. Never experience camera freeze, but 5 days ago I bought M11Monochrom and despite new firmware (1.6.1) I had 2 freezes, maybe 3. I used SanDisk Extreme pro SDXC UHS II, previously used in Q2. I formatted it in camera and used it. But after "freezes"2 or 3 times,  I found suggestion on this forum, namely, to format SD card with SD Card Formatter. I did it, with all my cards, those used in M10R and M11Monochrom and all the problems gone! Transfer of the files is smooth and non-interrupted and M11Monochrom works flawlessly.
