Possibly this forum is cleverer than I thought and recognises your phone is an imposter and not a Leica and turns the image to the 'dark side'...

When I was 17 my class travelled to Berlin.

As a kid from a small village this was heaven to me. I bought a dayticket for the subway and used it extensively….
I love subways.
if you come from a village this way of transport is so nice. We had two busses a day and if you miss one , you call it a day ….

My first attempt at photographing the night. This is the Milky Way over the Mississippi River. I am open to advice for improving the capture.

f1.7 iso 800 48 sec exposure with NR off.

This is actually pretty good. You are lucky to live somewhere where the sky is as black as it is!

The basic problem is that, during the necessary long exposure, the stars have moved, thus showing elongated shapes. the only way around this is to mount the camera on a tripod that tracks the star movement. If you know someone with a telescope and tripod that does this, it should not be too difficult to mount your camera on the same tripod.

That said, you might find it more interesting to aim at a recognisable constellation, such as Orion, so that you can then identify the stars.
