Hi All;

Is anyone using a Leica M10 - M10-R with the Voigtlander 28mm F2 Ultron ASPH VII, and if so, which lens profile do you use (if one at all?)

Thanks!

-Brad

Thanks, have you tried it with no profile?

I use the profile mainly to identify the focal length, but I choose carefully to avoid the profile corrections damaging the image.

Of course you can use it with no profile! I use the Lenstagger plug-in the then correctly identify the lens in the metadata, and you have the option to apply a lens profile from Lightroom - which I never do, there is no need in my opinion.

How do you access the profile menus with this lens in place?

On my M10-P and a Voigtlander Nokton 40mm f1.2 asph the only lens detection menu choice I seem to have is auto on or off. D.A.G. installed a 6 bit coded M-mount that reads presents as a Summilux-M 1:1.4 / 35mm asph, which the lens seller indicated had the correct frame lines.

How do people handle the IPTC metadata being written inaccurately?

The following should be regarded as nit-picking at its best :)

I used it on the M11 coded to the Summicron 28mm ASPH, but I found it over-corrects the edges causing slight (I mean very slight) magenta edges when contrast is enhanced. I photograph a lot of clear blue skies and I might be overly sensitive to magenta tint. Your mileage may vary. It's an otherwise great choice.

Without lens coding, the Ultron has cooler edges but is otherwise neutral.

I'm currently trying out coding the Ultron to Summilux 28mm ASPH since the M11 doesn't recognise the Elmarit-M 28mm f/2.8 (III) 6 Bit code of 000011 unless one selects it manually in camera every time. This in-camera profile works the best for me.

Manually coding it to the Elmarit-M 28mm f/2.8 (IV) 011011 makes the M11 camera choose the Summilux 28mm ASPH since it shares the same 6 Bit code!
