I am looking to buy an M-E, and received this sky photo from the seller shot at f22. I have received a photo of the sensor, and there is no visible corrosion. Are the spots in this image dust or corrosion? They look like dust to me, but I cannot tell and am not experienced with this.

The camera has CCD ID 11, which I understand is a replaced sensor, but may not be the new corrosion proof sensor. The price is very low, so if this is dust I will likely take a gamble and understand that the sensor may need to be repaired at some point in the future.

Thank you for your input!

M9 sensors CCD15 and CCD16 are corrosion free sensors. Look for these unless the price is really that good you don't bother with corrosing in the future. With a sensor as shown above I think you will have at least 1-2 years before it shows up on a test shot like this. It starts with very small spots, then grows and adds more spots. Once started, it takes probably 2-3 years before it reaches a point that it can not be used without heavy healing in PP. So with this one I suppose you have at least 2-3 years of use. If that is enough and the price is much lower than a CCD 15/16 then I would buy it.

I would avoid any that do NOT have either CCD15 or 16.  Sooner or later you will need to fix that CCD 11 camera if you get it, and the fix will be expensive but also may still show issues.

There is a reason he's selling it cheap.

I got M-E 220 in 2016, one of the last made. Between looking as dust sports and worms (corrosion) it was much less than two years.

What seller is saying? If it is original sensor, it will most likely run into the trouble. My M-E 220 did.
