I mainky shoot Portraits and Family group shots and Very rarely Landscapes.  Can you offer any info on my Thinking.

The SL2-S has IBIS, Lighter and I want to use the S lenses on it.  I read that the AF is a little faster on the SL2_s Body.  Thanks

P.S.   Since I only have 1 S lens ( 70) should I sell the S and the S lens and get the lenses for the SL body?   Image quality and Better AF is my priority.  Thanks

One more question: Which one has the Newer Sensor( Sl2 or Sl2-s)

The SL2-S is newer, but the 47MP sensor in the SL2 is still among the top-rated 35mm sensors at DxO, so it's at the top of the 45-60MP class. The SL2 excels at high-res, and the SL2-S is slightly better at things that are compromised by high-res: low-light sensitivity, dynamic range, cost, video performance.

You should sell your 70mm with the S body. It's a great lens, but it's quite bulky for a 2.5, and you need an expensive adapter to use it on the SL2. I have both systems, and I hardly ever use the 70 on my SL. I occasionally use the S 35mm with the adapter, but that's because I don't have another modern 35mm (it's not my favourite focal length).

Hi Bernard, Its a tough decision to make. I can agree with what you said BUT I am Not sure if I will get the same IQ with the SL2_s   and I am thinking about the Leica sl 50 F2 lens NOT the APO

I can tell you guys what is magic ... and that is the SL75APO if you like that mm range.  This lens changed the way I view the sl2-s in portraiture in the best ways possible.  I am getting a lot of joy out of this combo.  I treat the sl2s more like I am shooting an M in every way except autofocus.  That keeps me grounded and thoughtful.  Good luck on your decision.

For the photos you like to shoot I think that the SL2 is a better choice over the Sl2-s.

Because the image quality is better and the AF is not really that different.
If you could wait the SL3 by the end of the year, that will probaly have an AF of a different league.

If you are looking for the same quality of S lenses, stay away from the small Panasonic lenses, get the APO lenses. night and day difference.

AF is similar in both cameras, the performance of the AF is better when the light is really low and shooting at 6400 iso + on the SL2.

The SL3 should have an incredible bump in AF speed, based on the Panasonic s5 II. But since you are coming from S camera, everything is faster. The S lenses have lots of glass to move.

I use SL2 cameras for most of my images. I need the high-resolution for my clients. I wish for an SL2-s for evening candid photos. But these days I think the sensor ability of the M11 surpasses both.

The S007 and 70mm will give you better image quality than the SL2S and 50mm non APO. The lens has a nicer character and you are comparing 37mp medium format to 24mp 35mm, even if the S is older now. Comparing with the SL2 and the 50mm APO is another story, at least when it comes to sharpness and freedom from aberration.
With the package you are basically getting the lower resolution offering and a panasonic rebranded lens. Both are still very good photographic tools, but not like the S and 70mm…at least not in lower iso.
The great caveat with all this is focus and stability. In the other thread you mentioned you had arm surgery and had some difficulty holding the camera. If that is the case, then the SL2 cameras will help you. Having owned the S cameras and the SL2, I think that for the most part I prefer to use SL lenses on SL cameras. The S lenses are big and slow by comparison, and at least for me the sharpness and freedom from aberration is nicer with the SL lenses. For portraits, however, the S look great.

Thank you everyone for all the Pros and cons and Experience on these lenses and Bodies.

My heart tells me to keep the S and the 70.  But my body tells me SL2_s

I dont know how much of a difference if any in shooting portraits with Strobes and mainly indoors from the S vs the SL system

  Thank you

I would just keep the 'S and the 70 and get more lens if you want. The higher the MPS the larger the files the more processing power it takes. If you are happy with your 'S just keep it and enjoy it. Why not get some M mount lens with the Leica M -> L adapter as there are millions of them around to choose from.
