The Leica S is well known for long battery life. When I shoot tethered I notice, not surprisingly, that battery usage is higher so I wondered how other studio shooters fare. I've got 2 and haven't run out yet but probably will get another to be safe. How many batteries do you find are prudent for the studio (or even a long day out)?

I have never run a battery down during a day. I have 4 or 5, but that’s accidental accumulation over almost a decade. Two were you’d be fine if I remembered to keep the spare charged.
Oh, I never shoot tethered.

I have three. Two 006 batteries, one 007--a bit more life. The problem is they do have a limited lifespan and they are starting to become harder to come by. I don't think anyone is rebuilding them. If you are shooting tethered a lot, you might want to invest in an AC adapter if they are still available.

When I was using the typ 007 in studio. I always had two which I rotated. In several years of half days (~1000+ exposure shoots) maybe a couple of hundred thousand exposures all together, I don't recall ever needing to change the battery in the camera during a shoot.
The batteries more bullet proof than the body and standard lens to be fair. That is another topic!

Speaking of batteries, I came across an old 006 battery I had that the plastic base somehow came off of. I seem to have lost that part--it was just glued on. Before I put this in my camera and find I can't get it out, does anyone know if that is something that could actually happen, or is the base just a cosmetic piece so the battery is flush with the camera base?
